Student copybooks, ca. 1795-ca. 1797 and undated, pertaining to trigonometry and geometry, natural philosophy (incomplete) and divinity (books 1 and 3), together with a religious treatise copied ca. 1808; vocabulary notebook for deciphering an unidentified text, undated, including list of approximately 30 "Books in my library", April 4, 1796, and other (later) notations; sacred music manuscripts, ca. 1797 and undated; religious writings (chiefly sermons), undated; record, 1839-1842, of sermons and religious addresses delivered at churches and neighborhood meetings; financial and legal papers, 1796-1851; letters received, 1843, 1850 and undated; tuition bills, 1825-1826, as president of the Society to Aid in the Education of the Indigent Children of the Parish of Orange; financial papers (pertaining largely to donations to various religious societies), 1830-1839, as treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church of Orange; papers (statistical compilations, accounts, attendance records, etc.), 1844-1850, as Orange Township Superintendent of Public Schools; papers (chiefly accounts), 1845-1847, as overseer of Orange Township Road District No. 10 (Day Street); papers, 1852-1854, pertaining to Harrison's estate; and miscellaneous other personal papers. The Orange First Presbyterian Church was formed in 1719 under the name, The Church at Newark Mountains, since Orange was a part of Newark at the time. As residents who belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Newark moved to the mountains west of the city, it became apparent that another Presbyterian church would need to be built.
